I started following the author on Instagram because I consistently 'liked' her beautiful pictures that showed up on some of the hashtags I follow. When I saw that she wrote a memoir about her life and why she moved to Scotland (one of my favorite places in the universe), I was intrigued.This is a terrific, feel-good read that explores how a "magical life" can be lived in spite of horrific struggles with a variety of illnesses including cancer. I enjoyed the author's prose and how she used her experiences of swimming in the Atlantic as a thread throughout the book. I found myself cheering her on throughout and would go back to her IG and look for pictures she mentions posting at certain times. This added to my enjoyment and connection to the story.I know this type of memoir is not for everyone, but I highly recommend it if you like learning about life in small town Scotland and enjoy inspirational stories. I hope the author has many years of swimming in the sea in the future and is able to heal deeply and wholly.
